As a Lead Financial Analyst at the largest United States-based oil and gas producing company, Thomas played a crucial role in both Upstream and Downstream Operations. Notable accomplishments include serving as a finance and accounting subject matter expert to facilitate the creation of the 2019 and 2020 annual budgets for the 3rd largest refinery in the United States, each averaging $1.7 billion dollars. He also spearheaded process enhancements that led to a remarkable 22% reduction in expenses. Additionally, Thomas provided effective supervision and mentoring to his teams, ensuring their continued growth and success

During his tenure at Tesoro Corporation, Thomas served as a Lead Accountant, overseeing corporate accounting and reporting functions. He collaborated with cross-functional teams to enhance reporting tools and improve data quality, while also managing accounting close processes.

At Honeywell, Thomas served as a Senior Finance Analyst, in Performance Materials and Technologies business. He conducted comprehensive reviews of project contracts, managed the month-end close process, conducted project accounting, and facilitated balance sheet and P&L flux analysis for senior leadership and external auditors.

As the Senior Manager of Operations Accounting, Thomas managed operations accounting and financial reporting to the U.S. Department of Energy. He spearheaded initiatives to reduce the accounting close cycle and provided essential support during the company’s transition to becoming a public entity by assisting the Controller to set up a best in class accounting department.

While at San Antonio’s largest locally owned accounting firm, Thomas gained valuable experience as a Tax Accountant in public accounting, where he prepared and reviewed federal and multi-state tax returns, addressed tax notices, and conducted tax research for special projects.

As Accounting Manager during the startup phase, Thomas played a pivotal role in establishing and structuring the accounting and finance functions from the ground up. He implemented comprehensive internal controls tailored to the unique needs of the growing organization and provided essential financial analysis to guide strategic decision-making in a dynamic startup environment.

As the Director of Finance and accounting for St. Marie Clinic, Thomas developed and executed the financial strategy to grow the medical practice from a single clinic to 4 clinics, 3 rehabilitation facilities, and 2 pharmacies.
